Highflyers is an exciting inclusive dance project for young people with and without learning disabilities offering opportunities to;

Darwin Dancers Project 2023/24

Darwin Dancers is an exciting new SiD dance project aimed at young people between the age of 16 and 30 who have some dance experience and who are ready to take the next step in their dance journey. 

Darwin Dancers, previously took part in ‘Critical Mass’ performing at the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony. Inspired by this brilliant experience the group wishes to continue inviting new members, working together, creating dances and performing. 

This performance based project will include, learning new dance skills, exploring making dances, creating dances to perform, workshops from visiting dance artists and going to see shows guided by SiD’s expert delivery team.

Adult Weekly Classes Spring 2024

SiD weekly inclusive dance classes on Wednesdays at The Hive, 5 Belmont,
Shrewsbury. SY1 1TE
January 2024  –  April 2024 (Term times)

Create 11.15am – 12.30pm
Create is a creative movement class with an emphasis on exploring dance together, as a group, in small groups and with partners. We will enjoy the sensory experience of moving together and celebrating everyone’s dance. Create is for people who need extra support in participating fully in creative dance and being part of a group. Cost £90/term.

Thrive 1.30pm – 3pm
Thrive is an inclusive creative dance class for people who enjoy dancing, moving and making new friends. You will learn sequences and have a chance to create your own dances. There will be opportunities to share your dances with friends and family. This is aimed at dancers with some dance experience, but people new to dance are welcome to try out the class. Cost £90/term

Contact Company Class 3.30pm – 5pm
Contact Company Class is an inclusive class for experienced dancers with a focus on improving and developing dance and performance skills. There will be opportunities once a month for people new to Contact but with dance experience to try out the class with a view to attending the classes and joining Contact Dance Company. Cost £90/term

Are you someone with a physical disability that would like to develop their dance skills ?
SiD is wishing to dance more alongside participants and dancers with a physical disability. Dancers with physical disabilities are welcome to give our company class a try. Our dance artist Delphine Wise will support participants new to the class who use a wheelchair. We are also building up a pool of people interested in classes for wheelchair users, so we can offer classes to suit you.

Join Contact Dance Company for a one-day workshop led by Tom N Rob. 
Tom and Rob (Tom Bright and Rob Hemming) are dance theatre artists who make and perform dance, celebrating their shared love of dance, theatre, laughter and improvisation.
